We are shaped for serving God. We will discover our spiritual gifts, ‘building up’ the church, along with ‘giving our lives away’ to others.

Equip the saints for ministry

Ministry is discovering our giftedness. But not for ourselves -- but for the enrichment of the Church …and…the lives of others. The Bible is clear: it takes all of us, with varied gifts – to fulfill the call of Christ. Thus, in Christ’s Body there are no “little people,” only called people – who are challenged to “unwrap” their gifts, in service to others. The result is a church rich in diversity and expectation -- reinforcing a central message: in Christ we are no longer “nobodies” – but “somebodies” – with a divine summons on our lives.

The Frederick Church of the Brethren strives to equip each participant and member for the work of ministry. We long for each person in our communion to discover their God given gifts – and then -- to exercise those gifts – in service to God, beginning with service to those within Christ’s Body.

For “…there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord...To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good…” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, emphasis added)
