We are formed for God’s Family. We will connect with each other, strengthening our identity as the Body of Christ.
Fellowship is “coming out of the shadows,” opening oneself, to the touch of Christ as it flows from other people. It is also a willingness to provide that touch to others, as well. Such activity affirms: we must not just believe -- we must also belong. God does not desire “lone rangers,” but persons moving closer, and closer to one another – and Him.
The Frederick Church of the Brethren aspires then to be a living entity, not an organization; a family, not an institution. At the heart of our identity is our identity as the Body of Christ – moving…yearning…striving to become: a living, visible expression of God.
For “…now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace…and has broken down the dividing wall…that in Himself he might create…one new humanity in place of the two…[reconciling] both…to God in one body…” (Ephesians 2:13-16).
