Proclaim the mighty acts of God

Evangelism is extroversion. It is the Church living beyond itself -- for the world. For God so loved the world, not just us -- that he sent His Son. Evangelism is anything that makes Jesus Christ an option for persons. Thus, evangelism happens through both word and deed, as we make manifest the wonderful news of Jesus. Such expressions of gospel are varied and numerous: feeding the hungry; detailing Christ’s saving work on the Cross; striving to curb injustice; sharing “our testimony;” building a home for the homeless; bringing a friend to church; proclaiming peace in a violent world. The common component, the required component, however – is invitation. Whether in word or deed – we invite persons to come closer to Jesus.

Every activity of the Frederick Church of the Brethren has a common goal: to invite persons closer to Jesus. Thus, every aspect of our congregation is outreach oriented. Whether it’s Bible School, a choir, a service project – or an intentional evangelism event -- everything we undertake calls persons to Jesus.

For “…we declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life….so that you also may have fellowship with us; and…with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ…so that our joy may be complete.” (1 John 1:1-4)
