We are created to become like Christ. We will grow deeper in God’s Word – and a lifestyle, transformed by Jesus.
Discipleship is deepening our belief; it is “walking the talk”. It is reshaping every aspect of our life and lifestyle to conform to the image of Christ. It is changing the way we speak. It is reprioritizing schedules and budgets. It is enlarging our citizenship -- toward the world. It’s peeling back scripture, finding new scripture. It’s praying without ceasing. It’s reconsidering war and violence.
The Frederick Church of the Brethren seeks to grow holistically. Not just numerically, but in faithfulness to the radical call of God. Thus, we seek Christ not just internally, but externally -- striving for the transformation of our total lives. In that regard, we fix our eyes on Jesus as master teacher – becoming an apprentice to the greatest mentor who ever lived.
For we are called “to present [our] bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God…Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect…” (Romans 12:1-2).
You are encouraged to explore the various components of this section of our web site to discover the manifold ways our congregation seeks to fulfill this core priority of the New Testament Church.
